Arizona,Petrified Forest, Holbrook

Oh What a Beautiful Morning, Oh What a Beautiful Day, We've got a wonderful feeling, We've had a Wonderful Day.

Yes folks, we  have had a wonderful day.  We think the RV problems are over, well we hope they are, and we had a good trip.
Not very long (99 miles) but very enjoyable.  We left Gallup, NM at about 8.30am before the wind came up and headed for Holbrook, Arizona.   On crossing the boarder we had to set our watches back another hour, so we had a really early sightseeing start.  We went to the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert National Park. .  The  NP office had a 20 minute film show explaining the Petrified Forest history and geography. The scenery was fantastic, the weather perfect and we had a couple of good walks.  The photographs don't do the scenery justice. The painted desert really looks like someone has taken a paint brush to the sand.
To see all the petrified trees scattered around the land like match sticks that have been tossed around is amazing.  From a distance they do look just like large trees that have been cut down, but when you get up close and see the colours and patterns in them and realise they are rocks, it boggles the mind.

We got to the RV park at Holbrook at about 2.30pm, time for the afternoon nap!!!  Can't over exert ourselves, we are on vacation, after all.  This is what RVing is all about.
