Page, AZ

After such a fantastic day yesterday, today was decision time.  The wind had howled all night, weather forecasts predicted more wind.  Do we continue with our plan to drive to Page or do we stay at Williams or do we drive back to Flagstaff? We decided that Williams was not a good idea, as the RV park was a perfect wind bowl.  Eventually the decision was to travel to Flagstaff and then decide on the wind situation.  The wind was blowing but too badly, so Dirk decided to push on to Page, which is near Lake Powell and just short of the Utah border.  Well, the wind did its usual trick and whipped up as we proceeded.  At some stages Dirk was only going 45 mph, and this was not a freeway, it was a single road, with passing sections on some of the uphills.

Beside the wind, we had a good trip, with some of the most fantastic scenery.  This area is still desert so there is not much vegetation, but the mountains and sand have their own beauty.  You can see from the altitude profile that has been included, how we climbed and descended.  It boggles the mind!!  Happy to report that the RV temperature stayed normal throughout.

We did not check into the Lake Powell RV park, as we had visions of the last lake we wanted to stop at and secondly we thought the wind would be worse at the water's edge.

Now our next decision is where to from here.  Our plan was to head to Bryce Canyon, but we have just heard they are expecting snow for the next couple of days, and we don't fancy driving a RV in the snow.  So we are going to slow down our travel for a couple of days.  Tomorrow we will probably stay in this area but move to Lake Powell RV park as the wind is forecasted to drop and then move up to Glendale, Utah, but keeping our eye on the weather.

Watch this space!!!
