Not much to report today, and not many photos, but as you can see from our track log, we drove up and down the I 40 between Exit 89 and 63 a few times. After speaking to Steve, the diesel mechanic, he agreed that the dirty radiator, could be our problem but not having a wash pit, he sent us to a self-help facility. Mr Fixit, Mr Mechanic, (my husband) donned his work clothes, opened up the bed, the back of the RV, and off he went with the spray wand, and cleaned the radiator. Steve said after washing the radiator to go for a test run up the I 40 to the next exit, and if we had no overheating problems, we were OK. Well, to cut a long story short, we went up and down the I 40, to make sure we were doing the right thing, after another discussion with Steve. we decided to push on to Gallup. As far as time was concerned, we could have traveled further, but due to the wind, we decided to stop at Gallup.
Because we don't have much news, I thought I would give you some info on things we have noticed on our travels. We are amazed at the number of people who travel with their dogs in their RV's. Not one little lap dog, we have seen 2 bulldogs at a time, 1 Rottweiler, (a lot fatter than our Bonnie) etc. I can't imagine traveling the distances these people are traveling with Bonnie in the back of the RV. When these people stop, the first thing that happens is the passenger door opens and out comes the passenger with the dog/s, (the engine is still running).
The other thing we have noticed is that the wind never stops blowing in New Mexico. We have been in NM for about a week and it has blown gales every day, it slows down at about 9 o'clock, so at least one can sleep.
Well, tomorrow we cross the boarder into Arizona, so here's hoping the wind drops. It is no fun driving or being driven in a RV, with trucks passing, in the wind and man are there trucks in this country!!!
As from tomorrow, we will be on Pacific Time, so we will be 9 hours behind SA.

Hello Dirk and Colleen,
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure whether I've done the right thing here.
A fantastic experience. Quite daunting having to deal with a CAT engine. You've seen potholes - how polite is the traffic, seen any taxis?
